October 1st, 2020

Today on the show you’ll hear my conversation with a fellow mama and coach, Erin Miller.

About Erin Joyce Miller

Erin is an author, small business owner, personal development mentor and host of her podcast Same Boat Huddle. She’s married to her best friend, mama to two kids, and a dog owner. She’s a lover of all music, lake life, taking pictures and everything high vibe.

After earning her master’s degree in Counseling Psychology and pursuing her career in school counselling, she made the bold decision to leave her position to be a full-time mom and start her own photography business.

After personally experiencing and healing from severe anxiety in motherhood, Erin has shifted her small business to offer mentoring for mothers who suffer from anxiety and overwhelm giving them the tools they need to heal their anxiety one layer at a time through physical health, energetic awareness and scheduling hacks.

Her latest book, Motherhood Stripped, is a deep dive into understanding anxiety in motherhood followed by a comprehensive outline of tangible tools for mothers to use in managing their own anxiety.

Highlights from today’s interview

1. Erin’s story and what her to writing this book?

2. The title “Motherhood Stripped” and what she meant by that.

3. Why this is an important conversation for women and mothers right now?

4. What signs did you ignored from your body that led to you having anxiety and panic attacks?

5. How she got burnt out by engaging the wounded masculine and how that led her to push and earn the busy badge.

6. What will happen if women don’t take their lives back in a beautiful feminine way?

Nothing is wrong with you! An interview with Dr. Valerie Rein

July 24th, 2020

Here we go (the link to the full training can be found over at www.doritpalvanov.com/gettoknowyourself)

Enjoy!

Transcript:

You know that the experience of a woman is different from a man’s (being different doesn’t imply inferiority).

But the fact that women are expected to operate in life and business as a man is absurd!

Men and women have been created differently for a reason and I want you to live your life embracing this truth and accepting it.

We’re going to begin by introducing you to two types of women I work with and by the end of it, you’ll self identify which woman you resonate with most.

Why does this matter?

Simplicity.

Isn’t that what we all crave?

I’ve been in this industry long enough to see how confusing ‘health’ can be.

Especially as women.

Your conditions are merely symptoms of a deeper-rooted issue.

Many of the answers to the conditions you have lay in the framework I’m going to teach you today.

Conditions like:

Hormonal imbalances – heavy, painful, irregular periods.

Emotional and mental instabilities – Brain fog, Moodiness, Overwhelm, Snappy behaviour.

Why do you tend to burn out?

Why do you feel sucked-dry of energy?

Why doesn’t life feel fun anymore?

Why do you feel frustrated and uninspired?

The answers lay in the differences between the two types of women I’ve observed in my practice.

Actually, not so much the type as much as how she operates in the world.

How she uses her body energy to live her life.

Meet Kimberly.

She’s an ambitious go-getter.

She’s confident and experienced in the marketplace and knows how and where to push to see results in her job or business.

A kick-ass businesswoman.

She’s busy and has a demanding job.

She’s the breadwinner in her household.

Often the only woman in a male-dominant workplace – striving, competing – to be seen and heard against all odds.

She’s determined. Hard-working. Relentlessly paving her way to the top.

She’s a professional.

Educated.

Often has multiple degrees under her belt (maybe even a Ph.D.).

She’s incredibly smart, talented, skilled and…. tired.

Actually she’s exhausted.

She secretly wonders what’s the point of it all.

Kimberly feels good at work but unsuccessful at home.

She misses the kids.

She craves to spend more time with them.

Dreams of vacations and time off just to catch up with them.

She has a nanny and a housekeeper, but she misses home.

She wishes to have more time.

When she leaves the house she exits her body.

She isn’t satisfied with her marriage. Her sex life is so-so. It’s good but not great.

Her husband isn’t the man she hoped he’d be.

She often considers separation but knows this will shatter the kids.

Her man isn’t a great husband but is a great dad.

Women like Kimberly tend to come into my practice feeling guilty because seemingly, she has everything.

The career, a family, the house, cars, vacations, a convenient lifestyle…

Still, something isn’t enough.

Women like Kimberly often use birth control pills for most of their lives and when they get off of it, experience their emotions for the first time and don’t know what to do with them.

Kimberly often wonders why her body is so messy? She wants to get her periods under control

She feels afraid, disgusted and even mad at femininity.

She questions herself. Often grumpy.

She has vicious dreams, and spirals down on an emotional roller coaster.

Food gives her a wicked handover.

She feels unstable, unbalanced, wobbly.

She wonders – what is wrong with me?

She never really got to know herself.

Meet Melissa.

Melissa is a SAHM (or works but not her life’s work).

She’s dedicated her life to her family.

She spends loads of energy trying to please everybody and rarely takes time for herself.

She depends on her husband financially and dreams of financial independence.

Melissa has a vision of starting a blog, or a business she can run from home working part-time hours in between her household responsibilities.

She knows it’s possible, she’d seen other women doing it.

She knows she can do it too.

But for some reason, she never gets to it.

She promised herself to get up early in the morning but never does.

She knows she needs to be consistent, but never has the energy to stick with it.

Her days are hectic with her waking up with the kids and feeling moody.

Sometimes she gets stubborn and doesn’t want to be around anyone (husband and kids included).

She just wants time for herself. Alone.

Every now and then she has breakdowns and lashes out.

Mental and emotional breakdowns cause her trouble in her marriage and with the kids.

She’s infested with fear, confusion and regret.

She’s stressed about money.

She often wonders when will she be making her own money?

She wants her husband to be proud of her, but instead, he judges her and can’t understand why she’s not coping.

When he gets upset, she gets upset and tends to lose focus.

He spends hours upon hours trying to ‘fix’ and analyze her by acting like her ‘therapist’.

She feels trapped and ‘domesticated’.

She feels like she’s lost herself in the life of motherhood and being a wife.

She doesn’t believe she has the power to break the generational pattern she has been born into.

She feels alone and craves community.

Melissa wants to belong to something bigger than herself and her family.

In terms of health conditions, women like Melissa, complain about conditions like irregular and heavy periods (thyroid and adrenal issues), adult acne, weight gain, bulky arms and back, brain fog, cognitive and mental issues, short-term-memory-loss and emotional eating.

She wonders – what is wrong with me?

So today you’re going to learn three steps on how to understand yourself as a woman so you can become the confident, energized and passionate woman you were destined to be on your own terms.

This is the foundation to creating a life that works for you instead of against you. This training will help you become a victor instead of a victim of life’s circumstances. You have the power to have anything you want.

The question isn’t ‘Why’, but ‘Why not’? Or ‘Why me?’ but ‘Why not me?’

This training will be like a powerful coaching session with me, on-demand!

You know that the experience of a woman is different from a man’s (being different doesn’t imply inferiority).

Don’t Have The Self-Discipline and Energy To Create The Life You Want? (ep-159)

June 24th, 2020

You’ve listened to all the podcasts, read all the books, saw all the FB lives and you know deep in your bones that your life matters and it’s time to take action on your dreams.

What do you want?

To start a blog?

A career change?

Write a book?

You also know that you’re life is full already.

How on earth are you going to create space for something new?

So you tell yourself ‘I’m going to wake up earlier!’

You set your alarm for 6 am the next day, eat food you know isn’t good for you followed by your routine social media scroll.

Then you go to bed.

Comes morning, your alarm goes off at 6am but you can’t get up.

You snooze your phone and go to bed until the kids wake you up.

That day looks like mayhem. You know exactly why.

So you promise yourself ‘starting from tomorrow I will wake up at 6am!’

But then the same story happens.

Before you know it you find yourself in a loop of guilt, shame and regret.

‘Why can’t I find the energy to master myself?’

‘Why do I suck with self-discipline?’

In today’s episode, I explain why this happens and what’s the first step you need to take in order to break this cycle.

This is 100% possible and you owe this to yourself!

Enjoy listening!

Xo,

D

Using The Four Phases of Your Menstrual Cycle as a Healing & Self-Care Framework (with Dr. Alex Golden) [ep-150]

March 26th, 2020

I am so excited to introduce you to Dr. Alex Golden, the co-founder of Zesty Ginger. Together with her partner, Megan Blacksmith, they teach women how to live in alignment with the four phases of their menstrual cycle.

Dr. Alex Golden is known for her integrative MD approach to health through both functional and conventional medicine and for teaching women the tools they need to be their own health advocates.

You are going to LOVE this interview, we’ve cover so much important points you need to know about as a woman!

This episode is an absolute MUST listen!

I have learned so much from Dr. Golden, she’s incredibly wise and intelligent and her life’s journey is inspiring on so many levels. She and I both have a Russian background and we talk about that too, navigating the Russian mentality and culture, healing from the Soviet upbringing is not an easy task. The Soviet-style of parenting is ridden with shame, critic, structure and a distance between parent and child. This is not an easy beast to dismantle and heal from and we both are still working on that.

Highlights from today’s episode:

  • Alex’s story and journey from healing chronic pain all the way through her current work with women
  • The heartbreak of not having children, navigating a conversation with her husband, parents, in-laws and the pressure of that.
  • The curse of the good girl and grieving her so we can step into our best selves as women.
  • How Alex and Megan have discovered working with the four phases.
  • What makes the four phases work and the practice of trusting yourself as a woman.
  • The differentiation between owning your power as a woman and what you think you should be able to do compared to men.
  • Hormone balancing and working with the 4 phases of the menstrual cycle can be grouped into 2 overarching goals:
    1. Optimizing inflammatory cascades in the body (phases 1&2)
    2. Optimizing natural detoxification functions for a healthy metabolism and to properly process and remove hormones and hormone-mimicking substances (phases 3&4).
  • What to do if you don’t have a menstrual cycle?
  • What is behind the name zesty ginger?

How a Working Mama is RVing Around The US with Four Kids? An Interview with Meg Brunson (ep-148)

March 12th, 2020

Yes, you’ve read it right.

Today on the show we’re going to slightly steer from the typical conversations we’re having on this podcast and get a sneak peek into the life of a breadwinner/working mom and how she’s travelling around the US with her family for over six months.

Meg Brunson is a mommy blogger turned Facebook employee who left the 9-5 for a life of freedom and flexibility. She’s currently RVing across the US with her family, while empowering other families to live their dreams, by pursuing their passions together. Her clients are building influence online – leveraging the power of Facebook and Instagram marketing to enjoy predictable leads, traffic, and positive ROI – all while spending more time making happy memories together, as FamilyPreneurs.

Meg is a professional speaker, children’s book author, host of the FamilyPreneur podcast and CEO of EIEIO Marketing.

Highlights from today’s episode

  • Meg’s story and her belief in family and entrepreneurship
  • In six months they visited 30 states, driven 20K miles, and had so many amazing experiences.
  • Want to travel more? You might have to redefine travel and what it means to you
  • Homeschooling while RVing
  • Reintegrating kids back into the schooling system after homeschooling
  • How they handle weather fluctuations while RVing?
  • Cleaning poop, showering, tire popping in the RV. It’s not always rainbows and kitty cats.
  • Working and staying productive while RVing.
  • How to afford all of this travel?
  • Food options and eating healthy while travelling
  • A juicy question – how do they have sex in the RV?
  • As well as what makes Meg feel confident, energized and sexy.

This is a fun but also informative episode especially if you have a desire to travel more but hold yourself back due to fear of the unknown (money, kids, work, etc). I make sure all of my interviews are fun and engaging, but this one will definitely sound like eavesdropping on a conversation between two mamas.

Movement In Tune With The Rhythms of Your Female Cycle with Jenn Pike

January 16th, 2020

Today on the podcast I get to geek out with my colleague Jenn Pike, a Registered holistic nutritionist and medical exercise specialist all about the female cycle and how to sync our movement in alignment with the four phases of our menstrual cycle.

This has been such a fun conversation!

If you love talking about the female body, movement, energy, embodiment, and all things women's health this is an episode you don't want to miss!

As women we cycle through a rhythm of a four-phase cycle like Jenn said in this episode, we've been thought that our period is the main event, however, it's not the only event. Our menstrual cycle is divided into four distinct phases which affect how we feel, what we want to eat, our libido and sex drive we want to connect intimately, they affect how we sleep, and the last main thing affected is our bowel movements.

These are the six female markers which I teach my clients to pay attention to when they are on a journey back to themselves and their body. This is super important when we, women are learning to engage more of our feminine energy and as a result step into our most confident, energized and sexy self. This is our superpower and I am so excited for you to meet Jenn and try out her newest program Synced which is what we're going to talk about on today's show.

Highlights from the interview

  • Jenn's story and how she got into the women's health industry
  • Women's bodies women's wisdom - your body is your best health coach and the best way to take care of yourself.
  • The four phases of the menstrual cycle and how to move your body in alignment with it
  • The energetics of the female menstrual cycle
  • Women's connection to the moon
  • The difference between a female and a male cycle (men cycle too!)
  • The best way to teach our daughters to live cyclically from a young age
  • Our menstrual cycle is our monthly report card, pay attention to it!
  • How her program can help women with their sex drive and improving libido.
  • In the second part of the interview Jenn shares her definition of feminine power, her non-negotiables for self-care, what makes her feel confident, energized and sexy as a woman.
  • What advice her now mom-self would have given to her now mom-self
  • Jenn's struggles as a woman
  • And other goodies!
